A DESIRE TO BE LIKED

October 2019 There are so many things in the world that I really enjoy. Nature is very high on the list. I’m continually amazed at how God gives us the ability to enjoy His creation by means of our senses. Relationships are also very very high on my list. And again the ability to enjoy those relationships is also a gift from God.

From the journal . . . . April 2010

I was talking to the Lord about all the things I specifically enjoy.  Chai tea latte’s, sunshine, snow, a clean house, brownies, winter, autumn, spring, summer, trees, flowers, nature etc.  I realized that many things I like don’t involve other people, but I love conversations with my grandkids. Most kids really .  .  . when they like me.  God, do You think I will ever grow up?

And I believe God said:

I put in you a desire to be liked.  I gave you senses to enjoy the world I made.  Think on the word ‘like’.  You like Steve M. You like his smile, his voice, you like seeing him enjoy his family.  It gives you joy.  You want him to like you so that you can share in his life.  There is nothing wrong with wanting people you like, to like you back.*  But don’t be who you aren’t in order to win their approval.  Seek my approval* because you like Me above everyone else.   You like what I like. Be kind and respectful to all, but seek approval from those you respect.  Give attention to those who need it.  I am in you and motivating you.  I am refining you.
You will burn out with frustration if you don’t use your resources wisely.

Luke 2:52 Matt 6:3

Lord, I just don’t always get ‘wise’.  Like today.  I want to clean the house.  It’s a mess.  I don’t have a lot of energy and it will take that.  But I really desire it to be clean.  Is that a good desire?

Yes.  Remember, I am in you. The mess brings you down a bit.  Clean it up. Then you will feel better and be less distracted by it.  I can use you when you are content.  I can use you when you aren’t.  It’s all part of life.

Lord, my heart yearns for you.
