Called to Testify

October 2019 We all know people who haven’t yet made the choice to follow the Lord.  As we love them, the Lord will give us opportunities to testify to God’s goodness that we have experienced.  I suspect that we have all had those frustrating moments when our words seem to fall on deaf ears. Our job is to testify and have faith that God is able to reveal Himself to those seeking Him.

From the journal . . . August 2009

Okay Lord. This is what is on my mind. Sharon and I had quite a talk yesterday about You.  Her daughter’s boyfriend goes to a Pentecostal Church.  When Sharon met them, the mom wanted to know if their family went to church. Sharon is pretty negative about church because  her mom had a very bad experience.  I emphasized that Christianity isn’t just about church.  It’s about relationship with Jesus.  Believing in You, Lord.  She would like to study the Bible but she doesn’t trust the translations.  Lord, I don’t feel smart enough to convince her.  Oh Jesus, please send Your spirit to her.  Unless the Spirit calls to her – she won’t come. She thinks it’s about church and good works.  God, we all need a Savior. We all need You.  Lord, I am thinking of different things to say to her but it won’t matter unless You touch her spirit. Maybe You could use me.  ?  I want to cooperate with You but by myself, I will blow it.

And I Believe God Said:

I can and am using you.  Some people are proud, hard and skeptical.  In the end, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that I am Lord. Those who have surrendered to me will rejoice.  Those who haven’t will live in shame and regret because they did not believe.  They exchanged the glory of God for a golden calf or some false image or concept*.  It’s a choice that each person has to make.*  Sharon has a choice.  Never give up hope for her, but know that you can’t fail her ultimately.  I see your doubts, but I also see your faith.  I see the determination to follow me and the desire for righteousness.

Psalm 106:20  Romans 1:23. Exodus 32 Joshua 24:14-15

Thank you, Lord God.  Who could not love You?
