I have a problem being on time. It’s chronic and I’m sorry. I’m continually working on it with some success but far from enough. The Lord showed me the painful truth many years ago that it is a selfish problem. I want to get more things done on my list and don’t always use common sense concerning time. I have a good friend who talked to me once about making time my friend. Haven’t really gotten there but I do think about it often. Usually when I am trying to justify speeding on the freeway.
From the journal . . . April. 2015
. . Lord, Thank You for loving me just as I am. I really don’t like being the way I am, so often late and/or rushed at everything. As much as I’ve tried, I can’t seem to change. Mark told me once that I have a lot of extenuating circumstances. He was being kind. Lord, I think I’m good at people, not so good at time. Is that from you?
And I Believe God Said:
Yes and ‘time’ gets in the way of you loving people. When you have an appointment or engagement, you must allow enough time and not be so ‘task oriented’. The other issue isn’t about being on time. It’s about making good use of your time.* Adequate is okay for many tasks. Your mom is right.
Col. 4:5 Eph 5:16
My mom had given me a word concerning my work and the long hours. She said “sometimes ‘adequate’ is alright”. My ‘perfectionist self’ hated that but I’m pretty sure God spoke through my mom.
Use your ‘perfect and best’ for people. It’s not impossible with Me. You want to be efficient and productive with time and resources. That’s okay but don’t let pride dictate to you.* I created you to love people. * And you do. Don’t worry about disappointing them. Care about them but don’t be distracted by what you think their expectations are. Don’t let pride or your expectations of yourself rob you of the joy in serving Me and loving others.
Pro. 16:18 . Phil 2:3
