Just You and Me

April 2020

Anybody having trouble with crowds lately?  Probably not so much.  Anyone missing crowds?  How about social gatherings?  That would be me.

This entry is about wanting to be alone with God.  That may or may not be easier during this time, but I know that God loves being with YOU!*

From the journal . . . . May 2013

At the retreat the facilitator sent us off to be alone outside with the Lord.  .  .  Thank You Lord for the sun shining on the rapids.  It is a lovely quiet spot.  I haven’t gotten far before I am wooed by Your love.  God, it’s so sweet that we can be here alone.  Just You and me.  Like the story* I read to my students.  The little gooseling wants to just be with the Daddy Gander.  A storm was coming and they needed shelter.  They tried several places, but those places were already inhabited by another shelter-seeking creature. Each time the little gooseling quietly insisted that it just be the two of them.  So the gander, not wanting to hurt the other animals’ feelings, found excusable flaws in each inhabited place they came to:  a leaky roof, a dampness, and hardness.  Finally, they found a deserted cave and nestled in for the night.  The two didn’t know that the other animals, thinking their own place of shelter wasn’t so great after all, had following the geese to find security.  In the morning, the little goosey was surprised to discover so many other animals in their shelter.  But it was okay with him – because his Daddy was still there.

And I Believe God Said:

I am the Daddy Goose to each of my children.*  I love alone time with them because there aren’t distractions. I can give and receive undivided attention.  But I also love time with my church as a whole.  Just like you love time with your kids as a whole, but individually as well .  Love Me.  Love my family.

  1. Very sweet Diane, brings a smile to my face? Yes we love being with others, but it’s nothing compared to time with our ABBA. We really need time with him to be full and ready to be with others. In the story you shared they all found their shelters to be shabby but found their way to the house with the Father in it, sounds like Gods plan❣
