July 2020
I’ve noticed in life how we all respond differently to tragedy. We feel our own hurt, but can sometimes be blind to the hurt of others who are also affected. During this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, along with political and racial unrest, many of us are upset. It’s not just happening to one of us, but all. However, the way we respond to it, could be very different, especially if fear and/or confusion are involved.
From the journal . . . . August 2017
I had written about the accidental drowning of a student from the school I had just retired from. He drowned while at a school sponsored event.
Lord, we can’t understand why You allow death for children. Maybe it’s because we don’t understand how amazing Heaven is. For this young boy, maybe You were saving him from something worse than death. Oh Lord, but what about his parents? I don’t know. But I do know that You are the Lord of compassion and I believe in You. Your ways are perfect.
I also talked to the Lord about being disappointed and saddened because a Christian co-worker had come down so hard on one of the supervisors who was at the field trip.
Lord, she was so insensitive to this young woman. It broke my heart to hear of it. Yet, I know that my co-worker was also upset.
And I Believe the Lord Said:
I want people to love each other. The strong must help the weak. The encouragers must help the discouraged. Have love and patience with the angry. Mercy and grace for all. Including yourself.
John 15:12. Eph. 4:29
Lord, thank You. I made some phone calls and You –I hope- gave me words for my friends. Help them all, Lord
