Do you make New Year’s resolutions? I usually do. I like to attempt to do something practical and something spiritual. The spiritual ones often need to be repeated! In fact, I’m still working on these ones from 1994!
From the journal . . . .January 1994
“Lord I love You. Yesterday I looked back. Today I must look forward. My New Year’s resolution is to brush my teeth every night. Spiritually, I’d like to act on Your prompting without hesitation. And I’d like to not choose sin. I’d also like to always remember that People are of the Utmost Importance to You.”
And I Believe God Said:
Keep Me ever before you. Yes, the message to you is still the same. You are aware of Me, but like air, you don’t always think about Me and your dependence on Me. When a diver is underwater, he is always aware of his dependence on his air tanks. He makes sure his tubes are clear and well attached. When you are in the world, keep your spiritual tubes clear and well connected to hear from Me.
Psalms 34:5-7 Psalms 123:1-2 Matt 14:29-30 Hebrews 12:2
Spiritual tubes. I think of keeping my mind focused, but maybe it’s more. Last night when I worshipped at church, my mind was working on something else, but I was strongly singing the worship songs. It occurred to me that my spirit was worshipping without my mind. I prefer my mind to be active and united with my spirit.

I do that way too often — mind racing around on all sorts of life things whike I’m worshipping. I have started asking for help to enter in unencumbered. Thank you for this timely reminder.
