Marriage on the Rocks

Marriage takes a lot of communication, hard work, and patience.  We got off to a very hard start and to make it worse, we didn’t know the Lord.  Praise God. He came in at just the right time and saved us.  We had been married almost 4 years when Jesus captured my heart and 2 years later, Mark surrendered to Him.  We had made a huge mess of our marriage in those years and it has taken all this time to make it work reasonably well, most of the time.  ALL by the grace of God. All I thought I needed was for God to tell me what to do and I would do it.  I was very much willing but not-so-much able.  I prayed a lot!

From the journal.  .  .  . April 1987

“Lord, please show Mark what he really wants me to be, as his wife.  Reveal truth to him.  Not what I need or what he thinks would be ‘right for him to need’, but truth about what Mark really needs from Diane.  Lord Jesus, I want to be that for him.  I want to serve You in that way.  I really do but God, not in vain.”

And I Believe God Said:

Do as I say even when you don’t see the purpose.  Trust Me to bring good from it for you.  I will not waste your efforts to please Me.  He who honors Me – him I will honor.

Ps. 91:14-15 Matt 10:32

You must believe and trust Me for the results.* Diane, you need to believe that it will accomplish good for you and Mark.  Would a good physician take a broken body and make it worse?  You don’t see the results and even though you are determined to be obedient – you don’t trust that I will answer your request.

Prov. 3:5

Conclusion . . . . January 2021

The last sentence was a little hard to take but the Lord knew my skepticism. The Lord is always patient to teach us what we need and loves us unconditionally.  I wish it was a lesson thoroughly learned but He’s still working on me.  Belief comes more easily now, however, I have a long way to go.  So glad He is who He is!
