Anxiety. “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” This famous quote came from Franklin D. Roosevelt in his First Inaugural Address in 1933. We were in the midst of ‘The Great Depression’ and there was great fear in our country. While I haven’t faced those dreadful challenges, the quote still resonates with me. When I start to feel anxiety, I find that I fear it. “Oh no, here it comes. Help me Lord!!” It’s a yuck feeling in the stomach region, as many of you know. My first response used to be to reason it away somehow. However, through the years I have learned to call out to God first, not always successfully on my part, but I know where my best help comes from.*
*Ps 121:1-2 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
This journal entry is short, but the Lord’s words were a huge comfort to me. My hope is that they will be to you, as well. I always trust and hope in His timing for these blog posts. A friend of mine used to say, “It’s tough outside the garden.”* So true!!! We need all the help we can get in the life! And He is so ready to help us!!!
*Genesis 3:23 So the Lord God banished them from the Garden of Eden,
From the journal. . . . November 2019
Lord, I woke up early and couldn’t get back to sleep. I was worried and having anxiety about my health, even though I’m not having any specific health issues. I believe You were reminding me that You would be with me in everything. It was comforting. You give peace.
And I Believe God Said:
I will always be with you. I have said it in the *Bible and I say it personally to you. This life you live is so short compared to the eternal life that I bring to you. Your life is better when you choose to trust Me. You love Me, certainly, but trusting Me, to the degree that eliminates worry, takes discipline and focus on your part. Remember My promise to never leave you and remember that the woes of this world are temporary.
*Genesis 26:3 Psalm 91:15 1Kings. 11:38. Hebrews 13:5. Matt 28:20 Ps 139.
John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
Wow. Thank You Lord.
