A Great Prayer Verse

There have been verses in my life that have become part of me. Psalm 75:9-10 is one of those verses.  Older versions use the word ‘horn’ of the wicked and ‘horn’ of the righteous but I appreciate how the NLT translates it as ‘strength of the wicked’ and ‘power of the godly’. In 2020, there was much unrest in our country with the Coronavirus pandemic, rioting over racial issues and law enforcement, and a turbulent election year.  Asking God to break the strength of the wicked and increase the power of the godly seemed relevant to almost everything that was going on. Anyone who prays with me has probably heard the verse repeatedly.

The dates in my Bible show what month I prayed specific verses for my family!  That verse has gone around to almost everyone!!

From the journal . . . . July 2020

I had been praying Psalm 75 and meditating on ‘all You have done’.

Psalm 75:9-10 NLT But as for me, I will always proclaim what God has done;
    I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 For God says, “I will break the strength of the wicked, but I will increase the power of the godly.”

Lord, I will always proclaim what You have done. Everything! I remember when I lost our baby in miscarriage. I had to go in for a DNC afterwards. During the procedure, I said to the doctor, “Is this how you do abortions?” He very abruptly said “I don’t do abortions.”  I remember thinking, “God, You gave man the knowledge needed for this procedure, to provide healing in situations like mine. Man in his creative ‘wisdom’ (not of You), saw that it could be used for ungodly purposes.” It’s similar to using pain killers for recreational purposes.  We call it drug abuse. Because You are merciful, You allow men to discover drugs to heal, and You provide various cures for diseases. What they do with that knowledge, is their choice. You always give the choice.  Unless You don’t.  You will be glorified, Lord Jesus. All power, all wisdom, and all glory belong to You!  God, have mercy on us all.

And this is how I pray these days:

“But I will always proclaim what You have done.  I will sing to the God of Jacob. For God says, ‘I will break the strength of the wicked and I will increase the power of the godly.’”

And I Believe God Said:

My words are always true. This is a time of war and that verse is timeless. There are people, warriors like you, who are praying that verse around the world. Many, many, other verses, as well. Those prayers, petitions, and declarations rise up like incense, but they are not powerless. Incense dissipates but those prayers have substance, more than what man can understand. I see the faith and that pleases Me greatly, but there is more to it.  Don’t give up. Encourage My church not to give up. You prayer warriors are a vital part of the My army.

Eph 6:10-20. Phil 4:6. 1 Thes 5:17. Rev 8:3-5

Wow, Lord!  I believe You!  Thank You!
