Poison Skittles?? What kind of a group is that? Roller Derby!! My granddaughter, Naomi Kiyoko, was on a team for about 3 years. It was a bit nerve wracking at first, for this Grandma, because I remember watching Roller Derby in the 60’s. It was a rough and pretty violent sport at that time, but her league wasn’t bad at all. We really looked forward to the monthly bouts! We, of course, LOVED watching our granddaughter, Looney Lux, going around the rink, blocking and jamming. She always had a smile on her face! Fun times.
From the journal . . . June 2017
I was outside, remembering times when my kids were little and playing in the yard. I’m grateful for how God had angels* watching over them, to keep them safe, and how He continues to watch over the grandchildren.
*Matt. 18:10
Thank You, Lord, for Your angels that always watch. Lord, could You help the ‘Poison Skittles’ to win this final bout? They haven’t won a single game. I know You love the members of each team. But maybe, if the Poison Skittles won, it would remind Nicole (my daughter) of Your great love and impress Kiyoko as well.* I love You, Jesus.
*Ps 111:3 Everything He does reveals His glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails. He causes us to remember His wonderful works. How gracious and merciful is our Lord!
And I Believe God Said:
Do you believe I will do this?
Matt.9:28
I wouldn’t be surprised, but I know that You might have a reason to not intervene.
You don’t doubt that I hear you, do you?
Psalm 116:1 love the Lord, because He hears My voice and my pleas.
No – I know You do. Lord, even as I write (and I sense You are saying Yes) I don’t want to be putting You to a test. At the same time, I don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to help Nicole’s faith.
More than the game, you want Nicole revived?
Psalm 85:6-7
Absolutely! But it would be fun for those girls to have a win!
You know, of course, that I am sovereign and you believe I speak to you?
1Chron 29:11 Isaiah 40:10 John 8:47
Yes – undeniably, You are sovereign and yes, I believe You speak to me.
But you doubt your own ability to hear Me rightly. You know the things I have done. You know that all I do is righteous, but you don’t know what I will do. Is that right?
Yes Lord. It’s the small details that I’m doubtful about. If they lose- perhaps it will build character or perhaps it is more important for the girls on the other team to win. If the Skittles win – it would help them to feel better about the season, I assume. It’s in my thinking that winning builds confidence and losing builds character. And You, Lord, know the correct balance. You know the amount of discouragement we can handle and even the amount of confidence that is healthy. I believe in Your Grace, so I’m hoping for the win!
Okay! Watch and see! Believe and hope.
Psalm 66:5 Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles He performs for His people
I adore You Lord. Thank You for feelings. Thank You for loving me so gracefully. And please work in my Naomi’s life.
Conclusion: The Poison Skittles did win that bout. It was very cool, and everyone was so excited. The other team was generously gracious, too. It actually opened up some positive interaction between us and Kiyoko’s dad.
It was another testimony of our Father’s great love for us!!!
