Fear has a great stronghold on our feelings and easily transfers to our physical body.* That’s a good thing when we are in danger. The adrenalin gets going so we can run, fight, or do what is necessary to handle an urgent situation. The problem is when our brain, or the evil one, tells us lies about what is going on and we panic. The sooner we turn to God in these situations the better we will be. The situation may not change, but knowing the Lord is with us, and He is for us, makes a huge difference for us emotionally. He is our constant help in times of trouble.
Ps 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. NASB
Psalm 34:4. I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears. NLT
*Psalms 38:10. My heart pounds, my strength fails me; even the light has gone from my eyes.
Psalms 55:4-5 My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death have fallen on me. Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me. NIV
From the journal . . . . August 1988
Lord, You are an awesome God. I am weak. I try to ‘think strong’ and ‘be strong’, but I’m not. Thank You again that the chemotherapy wasn’t hard at all. I was so afraid. I believe You are bringing healing to me. Thank You Lord. Be glorified. You say in Your word to ask and believe you have received.
Mark 11:24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too
Lord, because of Your word, I will believe I have peace, but still my body is at unrest. I’m torn between continuing to ask, like the guy in the bible who bangs on the door at midnight asking for bread (Luke 11:5-9) , or just accepting the anxiousness. Lord, these things I know:
You are in control of my life.
You are stronger than the enemy.
Your truth is greater than his lies.
So, am I to believe this is not fear, but a sickness in my body? Please heal the sickness, Lord.
And I believe God Said:
It is not fear that produces that particular feeling, but fear magnifies it. Reject the fear. Don’t believe it! All is well. I’m in control.
Luke 12: 6 “What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. 7 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
31 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and He will give you everything you need.
32 “So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.
