Imagine this. You and your family have been at the same church where your children were born. You have been blessed with Godly leadership and people who love the Lord. They preach His word as truth. This is not to say you always agree with everything that comes from the pulpit, but you are confident concerning the essentials.
Some of your kids have chosen to go to Bible college to learn more about living God’s way and studying God’s word. They come back home, reasonably confident about their ability to hear from God. As a parent, you are delighted!!!
Then they question an interpretation of a bible passage that is preached from the pulpit. As a family, we talk it over to discover that we feel the same way.
As you may have guessed, we had a situation like this and my son didn’t want to talk to the preacher about it. The preacher was very approachable, and I wanted my son to talk to him, but I was also protective of my son.
From the journal. . . . August 2008
. . . . Lord, should I talk to the preacher about this?
And I Believe God Said:
Do you need him to know?
I don’t have a good reason, unless it’s for my son and even at that, it’s probably not my business. I’m no longer his protector. Oh Lord – I guess the preacher doesn’t need to know what I think.
Talk to your son. Encourage, support, and love your kid. Entrust the preacher to Me. Don’t be afraid to talk to him or even disagree with him. He doesn’t have more of Me than you do. But be open to him, always be respectful and speak the truth in love.
Acts 17:11 Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. See also Eph 4:11-15
Lord is my truth – the truth?
Sometimes it is your perception of My truth. Always seek Me for truth. I am the truth. This point with the preacher isn’t crucial. You can relax and not be intense. But always listen to Me with any message, in every relationship.
Ps 25:5. Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Saviour,
1Tim 6:3-4 3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4 they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions

Intense describes me, I think. I need to be aware of that in me. I think I send mixed messages when I try to be casual about my intensities. . . mmm. I love ‘casual’ but my feelings often tend toward ‘intense’. Silly me. I sure need Your love, Lord. I need Your hand always on me for reassurance, restraint, and direction.
I love you and I will not forsake you. You are My daughter and I am your Father.
