Love Even When You Can’t Trust

God puts people to love in our lives.  He came to love the unlovely and He expects us to do the same. The truth is, sometimes the ‘unlovely’ is us!  Other times we are required to love those we don’t trust or respect. * It isn’t easy, but God continually makes Himself available to help us through.  Call on Him!  Always!  He will give us everything we need to do His will!

*Luke 6:35-36  Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. 36 You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate

**2 Peter 1:3  By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.

From the journal .  .  .  . October  1989

God, You are the Mighty One.  You could take these suspicions away from my mind.  I can only trust what I’ve experienced and perceived about Nevaeh . . .

Whoa, wait!   I could also trust what You had previously conveyed to me in December of 1987.*

God, I believe You told me that Nevaeh was my enemy.   You said, “She’s not rejecting Me, she’s rejecting you.”  I believe you are still speaking to me about her and others I have trouble loving.

And I Believe God Said (two years later):

Love your enemies. Beware, but love them.  Guard your heart.  Don’t put your hope or trust in man.

John 2:24-25 NIV  But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. 25 He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person.

My kingdom is stronger than the powers of darkness and lies.  My light overcomes the darkness.

The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it. 1 John 1:5 NLT

Trust Me to work in you. Acknowledge your feelings, but don’t let them rule over you.  Trust Me to direct you.  I can, you know.  Mind your world. Pray for those who concern you and be kind when there is opportunity.  Look to Me for direction. Remember, not every feeling requires action . . . prayer, yes, but not necessarily action.

Thank You, Lord.  I love how You repeat Your truths.  You are always consistent and so patient with Your children.
