I checked with Google and confirmed that March 24th, 1989 was a Friday. I can safely assume that I wrote this entry right after the Good Friday service.
From the journal . . . March 1989
Jesus, while we were worshipping You tonight, I thought of Your death on the cross. I was struck with the Father’s sacrifice of His Son. He had to turn away from His only Son. Could I forsake my son or child at his neediest time? And do so willingly? God, you couldn’t even look at Your perfect Son while He had my sin on Him.
Oh, Jesus. What comfort could You find? I know that You delighted to do Your Father’s will; that would be a comfort, but You were abandoned by Your father. It breaks my heart to think of it.
Thank You for that ultimate sacrifice of comfort. Father God, I can’t even think of a comparison for what You sacrificed for us. We were that important to You. Thank You for giving us a sacrifice. You sacrificed Him for us. Awesome Lord. Make me more willing to sacrifice where it will do good.
And I Believe God Said:
There is no longer a need for your sacrifice.
Hebrews 10:18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary. (See also Hebrews 10:15-18)
Every time you choose to serve Me, it is to your advantage. Not a sacrifice. The best choice. Nothing on this present earth, can be compared to the blessings to be received, by those who serve and choose Me throughout their lives. Hard choices. The choices you make in this life because of Me, are often very hard. But a sacrifice is giving up the valuable in your life, for something else. There is nothing you could possibly give up that would be as valuable as what you gain by serving Me.
Phil 3:8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.
Mark 10: 28-30. 28 Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!”
29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.
Matt 6:36. 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Amen, Lord. Yet, the sacrifice of the perfect for the sinful is beyond my comprehension.
