My husband often says ‘you got to be doing something’ to justify whatever he, myself, or someone else was doing. Who is to judge whether we are wasting time or not? (I know the answer could certainly be a boss, a teacher, a parent, etc. or even God) but mine is a rhetorical question.
Obviously, journaling is part of my prayer life and God is my ‘Dear Diary’. As I reread entries to remember what God has said, I logically want to know in what context He said it. I often have to wade through a lot of rambling details to get to the good stuff! I’m reminded that the Lord’s love is unconditional, and He loves me despite my verboseness.
From the journal . . . October 2017
I had been talking to the Lord about my routines and schedules. I wanted to make good use of my time.
Lord, journaling has taken 45 minutes without Bible reading. It feels weird to imagine that I am not with You for every thought or that you are somehow blocked from my thoughts. I know You are with me even though my thoughts are mundane. Who would be interested, besides You?
Psalm 139:1-3 Lord, You have searched me and known me.
2 You know when I sit down and when I get up;
You understand my thought from far away.
3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.
And I Believe God Said:
These details are what make up your daily life. Every person has their daily life. Whether they talk about it, think about it, or write about it – they all have it. You have this day, this hour, and this moment.
Psalm 139:16 Your eyes have seen my formless substance;
And in Your book were written
All the days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.
It’s good for you to make your plans with Me. I don’t tell you all that will happen. You can’t handle that. You would worry or ‘prepare’ instead of being in the moment. You have more freedom by not knowing what is going to happen. Be assured that I make preparations for you and thru you, because I am always here. You always have access to Me.
Psalm 32:8 The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.
Prov 16:9 We can make our plans,
but the Lord determines our steps. NLT
Jer 29:11 For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. NASB
What an Amazing God! He offers Himself to all who will believe Him!
Gal 3:5. I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ. NLT
