Over Burdened

Before the Lord had made it clear that I was to become a public-school teacher, I worked at our children’s Christian school.  I did daycare for the preschool and kindergarten children, in the afternoons. I didn’t realize it, but the Lord was training me for the ministry He was calling me to.

From the journal . . . . December 1990

Lord, I feel such a burden for Sandra Richards and her mother, Kelly. I believe it is a burden from You.  She often calls me because she is having a hard time with Sandy.  Kelly was a victim of child abuse and confesses that she doesn’t do much at all in the way of disciplining, for fear she may abuse her daughter.  Consequently, Sandy is spoiled and does not respond to the disciplines I use at school, such as taking a paper clip (part of my behavior management system) or time out.

Lord, she is little, but could I have her do sentences?  That would perhaps help.  Then the time involved would be hers.  Thank You, Lord.  God, I want You emphasized but should I have her write “Jesus” over and over?

And I Believe God Said:

The idea is from Me.  Listen to Me in My word and I’ll tell you what to have her write.  Don’t give her too much but make her do it right.

Jer 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

It was very inspiring to have the Lord speak to me concerning my daycare concern. I was excited.

Thank You for Your faithfulness.  You really do care!

Encourage Kelly to read My word. You were faithful to pray with her.  Don’t be afraid of offending her and don’t apologize for being who you are, and who I want you to be.  You are burdened with My burden. But I won’t over-burden you. You are able to carry this with Me, but don’t try to take it without Me.  You see a picture of carrying a piano by yourself.  The picture is very graphic, but appropriate.  If attempted alone, not only will you be over-burdened, but the piano will also get damaged.

Matt 11:28-30  Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls .30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
