This is a continuation of my journey thru college!
From the journal . . . . March 1991
I had been talking to the Lord about how to arrange my first college schedule for the summer. Our five kids, aged ten to nineteen, still very much needed an involved mom.
“Lord, I submit this to You.”
And I Believe God Said:
You must submit everything. I will be with you in all that you do. Be aware of the world’s influence. Don’t let anything keep you from time in My word. You are in My service now. You are working for Me. It is not a matter of how much ‘time’ you spend in My word, but how much you keep with you.
Psalm 119:15-16 I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways.
16 I will delight in your decrees
and not forget your word.
I want you to be cheerfully willing to give up anything for My plans for you.
2 Corinthians 9:7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
Look to Me and you will not be ashamed. Be devoted to your children. Spend time with them but it does not have to be sacrificing ‘precious alone’ time. Teach them to be diligent workers around the house. Teach them the completeness of a task. Encourage them and be convinced that it is important. There is nothing that they can’t be taught and taught well. Watch their attitudes. Be patient. Be kind.
Colossians 23:3-4. 2 Timothy 2:15. Ephesians 4:2-3
I had always been home for my family, except for working with my contractor husband and the Christian school daycare, which would be on summer break when I started classes. I knew that besides the time in classes, I would need study time. I was pretty anxious about how it would all work out but felt sure of His calling on me. He would make a way!!
