God’s timing is ALWAYS right. Funny, I felt inspired to do this specific prayed pursuit about thirty-five years ago, but I barely started before I gave it up. When I came across it again, I was ready and have been doing it ever since. I started by typing the prayer out on my phone, but it evolved to being entered by using my dictation microphone. Thank YOU, GOD!! It’s kinda funny to read it back when I am done because the computer doesn’t always get the words right!! No Fear! God always knows!!
From the journal . . . . October 2018
Lord, I read a journal entry from 1988. At the time, I was committing to pray only what is on Your heart for thirty minutes. I don’t remember doing that, but I like the idea. It’s also more feasible now that I am retired. I’d like to attempt it or at least something similar.
And I believe God Said:
Start with ten minutes on non-run days. Do it after your other prayers and use your prayer language. Be open to Me and trust Me to give you direction and names. You are in a different ‘stage’ now, but the focus remains on what I reveal to you at the time. It’s not about you, but sometimes you will be unable to get past your own concerns. Not to worry. I’m big enough to handle that. There will also be times when you will pray much longer.
Eph 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. NIV
Jer 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. ESV
Lord, thank You for giving me an excitement about this. I’m curious about that time in 1988. It was just a couple of months before my cancer diagnosis. I was very distracted and many things fell to the sidelines, at that time.
In the past, I have called this ‘intercessory prayer’ but my definition is not really the correct one. Quite simply, intercessory prayer is the act of praying on behalf of others. Most of my prayers are intercessory, as I assume most of yours are. However, this specific prayer is a result of asking God to bring to my mind what He wants me to pray. I go on faith that what comes into my mind is what He wants me to pray. I confess, sometimes my prayers seem kind of corny or even crazy. However, I pray this way because I really don’t have anything to lose and there could be very much to gain for somebody!!
