The Great I Am

When your children grow up and leave home, you no longer have authority over them.  The hope is that you still have enough influence to help them in the important decisions they will need to make.  However, if they don’t take your advice, you have to let it go and trust God.  I was at a place where I was seeing the consequences of what I considered a wrong choice for one of my children.   At the same time, I was struggling with my very secular Cultural Anthropology professor.

From the journal . . . . February 1993

Jesus, Jesus, I’m feeling sad again . . .

I poured out my specific disappointment to my Heavenly Father.

. . . Oh God, have mercy on them.  I wish this was undone.  Lord, there’s so much that I don’t understand, but I know You are mighty and good and true.

Also Lord, please, help me in Anthropology. Oh God, I need to know when to speak up because I’m afraid of hurting my grade and of being humiliated.  Neither fear is as important as being faithful to You, which is my top priority, but Lord, I’m afraid.

And I Believe God Said:

Look to Me.  Trust Me to lead you.  I’ll give you words.  Don’t be intimidated by man (or woman)*.  Trust Me.  I love you and I know that you want to please Me.  Daughter, I see your fear.  I’m with you always, even when you aren’t aware.  I am faithful even when you aren’t*.  You’re the child.  I’m the father.  I’m raising you.  I am a responsible father.  Be obedient and trust Me.  I am your reality.  The things of the world are very intimidating.  Satan is very active in these days because the time is short*.  Be alert.  Keep My words and stand firm.  Though the earth will change * and the world is becoming more corrupt, I am God, The Great I am.  I am creator, and I will destroy that which is corrupt.  But My people: My remnant, My adopted and chosen ones will be cradled in My hand.  Therefore, stand firm. Truly you need not fear.

Ps 118:6 The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me? NLT

2Tim 2:13.  If we are unfaithful,  He remains faithful, for He cannot deny who He is. NLT

Rev 12:12 For this reason, rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you with great wrath, knowing that he has  only a short time.”NASB

Psalm 46:1-2 God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.NLT

There were two upsetting topics I brought to the Lord in this journal entry.   I believe God responded to the second issue but He also provided comfort and reassurance concerning the first.  Everything always seems to boil down to trusting our father who loves us. He is The Great I AM!
