Spiritual Endorphins~Blog Part 2

My last post (Don’t Let Discouragement Stop You ~ Blog Part 1) was about a time I was feeling doubtful or insecure about my mission project, specifically, The Blog.  This entry is more positive and more typical of my feelings when working!

From the journal .  .  .  . April 2019

Lord, I love working on this stuff with You.   As I wrote “About the Journal,” *  I emphasized that to feel confident to hear Your voice – one needs to be saturated in Your word.  And I ‘preached it’.  I believe it.

It’s hard for me not to go overly ‘thorough’ in my communication, and I second guess myself on what’s ‘too much’ or ‘not enough’. I thought about how You sometimes speak so personally to me that You don’t need a lot of words, and because we know each other we don’t need extensive explanations.

And I Believe God Said:

That is exactly so.  When you know someone well, you assume certain things will be readily understood because of past interactions.  For example, I know that you are aware of sins you are susceptible to, and you know that I know you are working on that.  I don’t have to convince you it’s wrong because you know it is.

Romans 6:12-15 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.  15 What then?  Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace?  May it never be!   NASB

My kindness and mercy are not because the sin isn’t important.

Romans 2:3-4 But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God?
Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?  NASB

 You know that I am totally and unconditionally trustworthy.  This doesn’t happen overnight.  You weren’t as full of faith in the early years as you are now.  You thought you were though.  You have learned that what you think isn’t always to be trusted. You also know when I delight in your thoughts, and you feel something like spiritual endorphins.

Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
24 And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.  NASB

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. NASB

Philippians 4:8   Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

Psalm 40:8. I delight to do Your will, O my God;
Your Law is within my heart.”

  1. That Roman’s 2:4 really stood out to me, I think of how long humanity has been going on, how can we not see how patient God is with us! Verse 2 also, God’s judgement is based on truth, there is sin in the world and He will deal with unrepentant sin at the end of time. Some people question that God doesn’t deal with evil, why does he allow it, he’s waiting, he is kind, he is forbearing, he is patient. In Roman’s 1 it talks about how man is without excuse because God revealed himself to mankind through everything that has been made. So he revealed himself but also made a way for us to come to him through the gospel through faith. It’s so clear to me that he is patient and is still waiting but that he will deal with evil in the end, praise God! Thank you Diane good word

    1. Yes and Amen. Thanks Debi, for the very thoughtful comment!! I was reading in Revelation last week and yes, indeed, He will deal with evil. Hopefully many will recognize the mess they are in and turned to Him.
