His Soul is Important, Not Your G.P.A.

I wrote this entry at the end of my geology class in community college.  I liked and respected my professor, and I loved learning about the earth. However, it was a challenging class for me because of the conflict between some modern scientific ideas and biblical truth.

At this time, I was upset about my term paper.  I was very grade point conscious!

From the journal . . . . June 1994

Lord, I got a ninety on my term paper.  He marked me down because I didn’t include that carbon 14 is known to be unstable after 50,000 years and because I left out another point of minor importance.

Lord, when accused, You didn’t defend yourself, but I feel like I may be the only one that the professor marked down on content.  Lord, I’m spending too much time fretting about this.  Please God, show me how to release it.

And I Believe God Said:

Leave it.  I can deal with him.  You gave him something to think about.  Take him your reference articles and include the origins part.  Also, include another copy of your paper.  His soul is important, not your GPA.  You told him your concerns.  Now, let it go.

1 Peter 5:7. Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.

I had written this paper on the age of the earth. I called it ‘A Young Earth.’  I included reference materials from a Christian, Tom Hoyle. The geology professor said he spent an hour going over my paper alone.  It boggled him.  I aced the class though and I prayed for him during the coarse as I did for all of my instructors. God only knows what He will do with that!

I am amazed at the patience God has with me. I was so concerned because I got a 90% on my term paper? I wanted to defend myself and actually compared it to the Lord not defending Himself before He was crucified for our sins. Really? I think He must just shake His head and roll His eyes.
