So Glad to Be Home

I had been in the hospital for four days from a gallbladder surgery complication.  While under anesthesia my heart rate dropped to about 25 so they wanted to observe me for a few days.  I wrote this when I got home.

From the journal . . . . December 2021

God, I am so glad to be home! You are so good to me, and yet there are times when I take so much for granted. I was aware of You in the hospital with me, but even when I didn’t feel You, I knew You were there because I believe what You say.

Deut 31:6   So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Matthew 28:20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Jesus, there are times when believing is a non-emotional choice. It’s a decision of the will.  However, there are other times when I’m significantly touched by You and filled with joy. I experienced both conditions during my hospital stay.  While there, I spoke of Your goodness to pretty much everyone I encountered.  Some seemed more receptive than others.

God, I must say thank You for peace. I was afraid I’d have anxiety, but I didn’t. I had asked some friends to pray, and I prayed too. Thank You, Lord, I’m so grateful.

Lord, we watched several of our TV episodes last night. They’re so worldly but I’m drawn to the medical aspects and character relationships within the plots. I was wondering why I like it and I believe I was hearing You.

And I Believe God Said:

Yes. You like it because you don’t have to care about the fictional characters. You can sympathize but there is no response required. It’s fiction. It draws you in because it’s drama that doesn’t involve you.  Yes, you can pray for the actors. They are real people with the cares, issues, and needs that all people have. Some know Me, but I know all of them and I died for every soul.

1 John 2:2 He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

I do hold your heart in My hand. You can trust me to see to your health. I’m still teaching you things through this hospital incident.

Romans 8:28  And we know that God causes everything to work together or the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Thank You, Precious Lord.  Direct my life during this time.

  1. 👍 God’s always talking. It’s just hard to always know what He’s saying and teaching …or maybe it’s because I don’t want to know 😬 Thanks for reminding me to always be listening and ready to interact. …and on another note – that stock footage of a living room looks so inviting… and familiar 🤔

  2. Thanks Brian!’ Stop Look Listen’! Yes, I reckon that living room does look familiar to you! Almost half of your life was spent there! 😊
