Be At Peace

I am condensing and editing this entry quite a bit because the details aren’t important.  I’ve changed the names and some specifics. However, I think the situation is common to all of us.

From the journal . . . . March 2022

I felt that Keith needed to forgive Ezra who had done him wrong financially.  There was no way Ezra could make it right, but he didn’t even acknowledge that there was a debt.  This was very hard for Keith.

Father God, please give him what he needs to be able to forgive and to lay it down.

And I Believe God Said:

You need to lay your issue down too. You see that he has unresolved issues. What is that to you? This isn’t a rhetorical question.

Philippians 4:6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.
1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.
Matt 7:3 “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?

I want him to be at peace with Ezra. I want everybody to be at peace with everybody.

You want heaven on earth. It’s a good desire but you can’t control it. Be at peace with the people in your life.

Rom 12:18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all people.

There are two concepts here: Forgiveness and letting go. I believe the Lord addressed to me the second one. I had a concern about someone I loved, so I prayed, which is good.

I think God was saying, “This problem isn’t for you to fix.  You can seek peace with those you have relationship and influence with.”

I didn’t feel rebuked by the Lord’s question but more that my efforts were redirected!  He often will ask me questions to get me to look closely at my own motives.  God is so perfect in all of His ways!!

  1. Yes, it’s so true we have no control over how other people deal with wrongs done, all we can do is pray and forgive. This a hard one for me sometimes but I just have to do my part and let it go.

  2. Yes, I struggle too. I am comforted though that God can let us know if our motives are good or bad. He understands our desire to help and we always need to understand that HE is always the best help!! thanks Debi!!
