When journaling, one of my reoccurring themes is feeling overwhelmed by things to do or just not having enough time to do what I want to do. A wise and dear friend of mine once told me that I needed to make ‘time’ my friend. I have not figured that one out yet, but the Lord has been so good to give me different ideas of how to be at peace when I feel frustrated by time. Here’s a word I remember often.
From the journal . . . . April 1995
Lord, I don’t trust my own judgement concerning myself. Lord, I think I want what is best for Sid and his family. My problem is that I’m not willing to invest much time because I doubt that it would help. Lord, guide and protect my thoughts, I pray. You’ve called me to be a wife, mother, and eventually a teacher. I’m also a daughter and daughter-in-law. God, that takes up my life.
And I Believe God Said:
But you can always care and pray. Do you think prayer is powerful?
Well Lord, yes and no. Have mercy on me, God, I want to be honest. You say prayer is very important and so I do it. I pray. My mind isn’t always convinced but my heart and spirit are. I talk to You now and I know You hear. I also know You love me. However, concerning Sid’s wife, I know You love her and want good for her, but if she refuses You access, how much do You intrude? Oh Lord, please don’t give up on her. Convince her of Your love.
That is your heart speaking! You get frustrated, but when you are quiet, you see that you do care. That is My heart: to care and have love for people. You can only help a few but you can love many. Pray for them and care about their spiritual condition. Care about what they think and know about Me.
John 13 34 I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing
John 17:3 And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
