I am continually asking God to make His words clear to me. When I work on publishing a blog post, I want to make it understandable to my readers, but not compromise the integrity of what I believe He has spoken. It gets tricky because what may have made sense to me twenty years ago may not be as clear today. These words I print are not 100% reliable like the Bible because I am just a person, clearly fallible. On the other hand, I believe in Him and trust Him to work these things out for His purposes. I also am trusting that you, the reader, are doing the same in your relationship with Him. Asking, believing and trusting in Him.
I was reading in the New Testament from the Book of Mark (NIV Study Bible).
From the journal . . . . May 1995
Mark 1:1 The note in my Bible says, “Some manuscripts don’t have, `Son of God.'” Interesting. From other Bible references in Mark, Jesus is clearly acknowledged as the Son of God. His Word makes it clear. There is no room for doubt.
From God
Mark 1:10-11 As Jesus came up out of the water, He saw the heavens splitting apart and the Holy Spirit descending on Him like a dove. 11 And a voice from heaven said, “You are My dearly loved Son, and You bring Me great joy.”
Mark 9:7-8 Then a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My dearly loved Son. Listen to Him.” 8 Suddenly, when they looked around, Moses and Elijah were gone, and they saw only Jesus with them.
From a Roman
Mark 13:39. 39 When the Roman officer who stood facing Him saw how He had died, he exclaimed, “This man truly was the Son of God!”
From demons
Mark 3:11 And whenever those possessed by evil spirits caught sight of Him, the spirits would throw them to the ground in front of Him shrieking, “You are the Son of God!”
Yet it seems some writers either wanted to emphasize or de-emphasize the point. Truth is truth, but some may feel they need to help by improvising a little. Scary thought when it comes to the Holy Bible.
Holy Spirit of God, please help me. Convict me so that I never change Your words to suit myself. It’s difficult to be confident of that in the words You give me personally. I must lean heavily on You, Lord. Who else do I have? Satan would trick me and devour me if You didn’t protect me. I need You, Father, to shield me and keep me from being deceived.
1 Peter 5:8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
Psalm 25:5 Lead me by Your truth and teach me, for You are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in You.
Psalm 120:2 Save me, Lord, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues. NIV
And I Believe God Said:
Years ago, you asked Me, you begged Me, to not let you be deceived. I haven’t, but you can’t ‘not think.’ Keep reading My words both in the Bible and My personal words to you. In Mark 1:1 it’s not crucial that I am documented as God’s son. I am who I am. Always know that! When you read the Book of Mark – think about him as a person. I loved Mark. He did well. You will learn from his words as I give you wisdom.
Psalm 111:10 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.
All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom.
Proverbs 9:10. Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.
Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.
God tells us that if we ask for wisdom, He will give it! Anytime you read His Word, ask Him how He wants to use it in your life. He wants to be involved with every part of your life. He knows you and wants you to know Him! It’s all there in the Bible, and as you ask Him to reveal Himself to you, He will.
2 Peter 1:3 By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the One who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence.
