A Consistent Response from God

This was written as I approached graduation and was looking toward my first teaching position.

From the journal . . . . May 1996

Lord, I’m scared again.  I can’t see anything in my application that would set me above anyone else.  It’s so standard. Why would they choose me?

I’m trusting You to do something because I just don’t know what to do.  Oh Lord, You know me so well.  You know my fears.  You’re my God.  If You can’t or won’t help, there is no purpose for my life.  Yet I know You are willing and able to set me up where You want me.

And I Believe God Said:

You are equipped to do exactly what I call you to do.

Hebr. 13:21 May He equip you with all you need
    for doing His will.
May He produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ,
every good thing that is pleasing to Him.
All glory to Him forever and ever! Amen.

But you are afraid.  Your enemy is lying to you, and you’ve been listening.

Gal 5:7-8 You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth? It certainly isn’t God, for he is the one who called you to freedom.

John 8:44   (Jesus speaking to the religious leaders) For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.

 Resist him and keep going.

James 4: So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Tell Kari that you are turning your application in today and do it.  Trust Me the entire time.  Pray for Nancy, Reubin, Kari, your principals, and Jodi; those you have been involved with at the school.  Pray for salvation, healing, renewal, revival, and more of Me for them.  Pray for repentance also.  Now relax.  Enjoy the summer.  Be My witness in the fun places.

This is a consistent response from God when I worry or get stressed about things.  He says it repeatedly to all of us in the Bible!

In this message

He tells me to remember who has called me.

Encourages me not to fear.

Reminds me of my lying enemy.

Gives me practical instructions.

Commands me to pray for others!

And then He says relax, have fun, and be a witness!

I was comforted, and my fear was gone.

Until the next time when I forget.

Isaiah 41:10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with My victorious right hand.
