Faith Pleases God

From the journal . . . . March 2000

Oh Jesus, You sure blessed me yesterday!  I was cranky when I went to bed as well as when I woke up, but You blessed me even before I went to school.  You reminded me that faith pleases You. Personally, and specifically, my faith pleased You! That was so cool for me.

And I Believe God Said:

Encourage others in their faith.  Tell them that faith pleases Me.  You don’t have to monitor if their ‘doctrine’ is correct but notice the faith they possess.   Seek My wisdom, seek discernment from Me, but don’t overlook faith.  Look for faith in Me.  You can question if you or others have put their faith in Me or something else.  Encourage faith in Me.  I am very pleased when you believe in Me and believe what I say to you.

Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another every day, as long as it is still called “today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

John 14:1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.

Thank You, God. I love you!

This brings to my mind a chorus of the children’s song:

Without faith it’s impossible!

It’s what? It’s impossible!

It’s what? It’s impossible to please God!

For those who come to God must believe that He is

and He rewards those who seek Him!!

Of course it comes from the Bible!

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

I won’t include all the faith verses in the Bible, but here are a few that come to mind.

Hebrews 11:1-2 Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen. For by it the people of old gained approval.

Matthew 8:8-10 But the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have You come into my home. Just say the word from where You are, and my servant will be healed. I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.”   10 When Jesus heard this, He was amazed. Turning to those who were following Him, He said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!

James 5:14-15 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.

Matt 17:20 “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

Isaiah 7:9b If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.’”

The Isaiah one was the only Old Testament verse I found in my limited search . However, Hebrews 11, sometimes called The Hall of Faith, tells of many instances of profound faith of God’s people throughout History! Definitely worth reading over and over!

We are so fallible in many ways but what God wants is really so simple. Have faith in Him.  Believe that He is!!
