Almost every day I have a plan. I check what has already been entered into my calendar, I make a daily list, and I try to accomplish things. Get ‘er done! Fortunately, I have learned to trust the Lord to edit or delete my plans according to His will. When something gets changed, I try to be open to what the Lord may be doing. I truly believe He is involved with the day-to-day events, and as I plan, it’s understood He has the final say. *
From the journal . . . . May 2023
Lord, here’s my revised plan. I submit it to you. You knew my friend, Becky, would cancel. You knew the invite from Jamie would come yesterday. Lord, You know what I will do before I even think about it! You know my responses and how the whole day will evolve. I don’t. I’m not sure how things will go today but I have a strategy. Sit and do work for forty minutes; take a ten-to-fifteen-minute break from sitting to do physical tasks. Repeat cycle. I have a list of the things I hope to accomplish today.
Lord, my bi-polar friend, Lucy, wants to accomplish things too but she often become obsessive.
And I Believe God Said:
You too. Accomplishment is a powerful motivation.
Is it bad Lord?
No, but as with most things there is abuse potential. Don’t judge yourself by your accomplishments; not by the tasks accomplished. I am your only valid judge. Remember when I asked you if you had prayed for your students? Your prayers were sufficient.
Often after a bad day teaching kindergartners, I’d bemoan my failings to the Lord. One day I clearly felt Him ask, “Did you pray for them this morning?” My answer was yes. Then He said, “Okay. You did the most important thing. Go back at it tomorrow.”

Your daily and minute-by-minute duty is to see Me. That’s what I require and want from you.
Matt 6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Psalm 105:4 Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face continually.
Jer 29:13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
You personally like the tasks. You like to see things get done. That’s ok. It’s part of organization and you find security and contentment in it. Diane, it’s ok.
I say in My Word to do things in order.
1 Cor 14:40 But all things must be done properly and in an orderly manner.
It’s part of Me in you. I used order in creation. It’s no wonder that you like it. Work and accomplishment are part of who you are because they are part of who I am.
Genesis 1:1-31
Work and enjoyment are intended to go together.
Ecc. 2:24 Nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and that his soul should enjoy good in his labor. This also, I saw, was from the hand of God. NKJV.
Col 3:23Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,
Lord, You make me smile. That is so, so true. I enjoy work and accomplishment, and I see we need both. It also reminds me of the Sabbath rest. It’s for rejuvenation and rest. And to take a break. Thank you!
* As I was drafting this post a song by Casting Crowns came on. It’s called Just Be Held and a line in the chorus says, “Your world’s not falling apart It’s falling into place!”
