I love this entry because I believe it applies to everybody. We all have our peeps that we see regularly and others that God has put in our lives less frequently. So, as you read, take it personally! Unless, of course, you haven’t ever asked or even wanted your life to count for something! We had teenagers living with us and I was teaching full time so, obviously, there were people I saw daily!
From the journal. . . . October 1999
Jesus, I need you to make my life count for something.
And God Said to Me:
I’ve given you people you can impact on a daily basis.
We pray. . . Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven Matt 6:10 NASB
Now may our God and Father Himself and Jesus our Lord direct our way to you; 1 Thes 3:11 NASB
I have directed you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in upright paths. Prov 4:11 NASB
The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. Pro 16:9 NASB
Look to Me and point them to Me. Don’t hold back. Don’t hide.
Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.
Ps 96:2 NASB
I will tell of Your name to my brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
Psalm 145:6 NASB
“Return to your house and describe what great things God has done for you.” So he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.
Luke 8:39 NASB
Pray for interactions in the staff room. Pray for opportunities. Don’t be preachy. Just let them see your life. I’ll take care of conviction if they judge you. Love and listen to them.
Pointing to Jesus was easy with my family but I taught in public school, so the pointing was mostly in prayer and hopefully by my actions. They knew I was a Christian.
The staff room interactions were challenging but I did get opportunities, and I worked with nice people. Several were Christians.
There were times I felt isolated and judged by some, but I don’t know what kind of convictions God may have worked in them and I don’t need to. For the most part I felt respected and there was always at least one person who would show up for our weekly before school prayer time.
I’m still praying for interactions with people in my world and always working on loving and listening!
