My journals are filled with conversations that I’ve had with the Lord. I know He hears me because the Bible tells me so.
Psalm 27:7-8 Hear me as I pray, O Lord.
Be merciful and answer me!
8 My heart has heard You say, “Come and talk with me.”
And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
Isaiah 65:24 It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.
Psalm 145:18 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth.
There have been many times that He has responded personally to me. I call those words God’s personal words to me and that is where I get this blog’s posts.
I happen to be married and the mother of five adult children. Many of my journal entries are concerning my husband, kids, bonus kids, grandkids, and personal friends. I can’t always divulge the details of my concerns publicly because I want to respect their privacy, so when necessary, I discuss it with them and/or use aliases. Mostly I am purposely vague, which can be a challenge for me, who likes detail.
Because of this I edit some of what the Lord says to me to hopefully make it understandable, helpful, and encouraging to those reading it. I also pray for Holy Spirit to guide my faithful editor and me to make it pleasing to the Lord. So here we go.
From the journal . . . February 2024
Jesus. Thank you for prayer. Ohh Lord, You and only You paid the price for our relationship. It’s all You. I just have to receive. Doesn’t seem like a very fair deal for You. And yet I…
Have you ever been talking to someone and they abruptly interrupt you to get to the point of what they want to say? Of course you have! Sometimes this is what the Lord does with me! He has to because I can go on and on forever and He already knows what I will say before I say it anyway.
Psalm 139:4 Even before there is a word on my tongue,
Behold, O Lord, You know it all.
And God said to me:
Yes! I am reminding you how you feel about your children. You want them to receive your love. When they return it, you get even more blessed. It is very satisfying but not required for you to love them. You love them unconditionally but sometimes you get distracted by negative thoughts and feelings that come in. Love is constant but feelings ebb and flow.
Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.
Now, tell me clearly what you want to see happen concerning your child.
Lord, You asked me that question in the car on my way home. I was listening to the song “I Will Trust in You.” * She sang, “When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move, I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You.” So Lord, here’s what’s on my heart and mind. Here’s my mountain.
And I talked to the Lord about my concerns and desires for one of my children.
In His personal words to me, He was reminding me of how I love my children. I want them to be happy and if they aren’t, I want to help. I also want relationship with them and it’s especially nice when they show that they want that too. If they don’t or if they don’t behave as I would like, I still love them and want the very best for them. God is obviously like that except that He always knows what’s best.
Psalm 103:13 Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.
Matt 7:9-11. Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
Perfect God, perfect love, perfect forgiveness, perfect mercy, perfect grace, perfect response! Perfect Father!
This is why I pray to the Perfect Father!
