Light and Mirrors

I don’t often ask God for words from Him, but I did on this morning.  I love what He said about light, mirrors, and how we can help each other see Him better!!

From the journal . . . . February 2005

Dear Lord, tonight is Bible study.  Thank you for the fruit of the Spirit study. Oh Lord, You are a faithful God!  Do You have words for the women tonight?

And I Believe God Said:

Each of you has a part to play in blessing your world.  Always look to Me for strength.  I am the source, like the electrical outlet for a lamp.  Mirrors help to magnify the light.  Be mirrors for each other, showing more of the same light to those around you.  Look to each other to see more of Me.  You usually can’t see your own face but be reassured of your value as you look at those around you.

Particularly those in this group.  Spur each other on to love and good works. *

Unless we have a mirror, we can’t really see what we look like to others.

James 1:23-24 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was

We, as believers are trying to be more like Jesus. Hopefully, we see this in each other.  And the more we are together we should be looking more alike.  I have often said to myself in some trying situation, “What would Donna do?”  “What would my mom do?” Maybe you have said, “What would (someone you highly respect) do?” We try to imitate the good qualities we see in others!!

For example, have you ever been in a group with a person who requires much patience and grace?  When I am tempted to be ungracious, I have been greatly impressed when other members of the group are being gracious.  We do that for each other!

*Hebrews 10:23-25 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
