Morning at the Ocean

We are called to tell everyone about the Lord. We are called to be His witnesses.

Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Rom 10:14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?

2 Tim 4:2 Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

When I first came to the Lord, I couldn’t help but talk about it. Pretty sure some were annoyed but, oh well.  Later I was a bit more cautious.

In this entry I certainly felt the urge or, dare I say, ‘call’ to speak.  We were camping at the ocean, and I was sitting on the beach talking to the Lord.

From the journal . . . . June 2001

Lord, You know that man in sweats walking by.  I prayed for him that he would know You.  He came back and I spoke to him.

“Good morning,” said I.

“Good morning.  How are You?” he said.

“I’m great. How about you?”

“Fine.”

“Are you camping?”  I asked.

“Yes, it’s great.  You have a nice spot to drink your coffee,” he said.

“Yeah, I’m just talking to Jesus,” I said, hoping for a conversation.

“Oh yeah, it’s a beautiful place.”

And off he went.

Well, that probably didn’t produce much.  Lord, can You do anything with that?

I Believe God Said:

I can do something with nothing.

I can do something with anything.

You gave with a pure heart.  Sure, I can speak to him concerning what you said.  Speak to these two also.

So, I spoke to the ladies who happened to be teachers.

I told them that I was talking to You about my past five years of teaching.  I told them how I started when my boys were in 5th grade.  And I said “God Bless” when they left.  Can You use that too?

Yes.  I can.  You have no reason, other than pleasing Me, to reach out.  Your motive is pure.  There is a little ambition in you for souls, but you don’t want to compete.

God, You love people more than anything.  You love the little ones.  Like I do but more.  I especially love the little ones, but You love us all.  Thank You for giving me my heart’s desire for kids.  My own five and a career of teaching children.  You are the Awesome God!

Sorry Lord, I got sidetracked.   What is the connection between my ‘little ambition’ and Your work?

As you make little of yourself, I can make big of Me.

John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease. (John the Baptist speaking of Jesus and himself.)

I have seen your pride and your hatred of it.  That pleases me, and I am delighted to use ‘little’ you.  Belittle   is negative in your language, but if you separate the word as a directive, Be little, then it is great because of Me.

You are important to Me.  Don’t feel bad about your ‘smallness’.  It’s good!

Concerning school, you are afraid of the expectations of the extended day kindergarten.  Don’t be afraid.  You are acceptable in the Beloved. *  You don’t have to be ambitious in your work.  Don’t be afraid.  Don’t be ashamed.  Look to Me.  I can use you and I can lead you.  And I will.  Trust Me to lead you and rejoice in My leading.

John 10:27. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me
Eph 1:6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

I love this verse. I remember it as ‘You are acceptable in the Beloved.’  Because Jesus has made us acceptable, God grants us grace and mercy!!

Talking to Jesus is always a good thing. He reminds us of His great love for all people and for us as individuals.  He wants to use us to show His great love and plan for the people in our world.  I was somewhat ready on this day, but nothing significant seemed to happen.  However, if He can do something with nothing or anything, which of course He can, who knows what may have come of that small effort.  He blessed my day by His presence!  Praying He is blessing yours as well!!

  1. It seems like our serving is insignificant at times but I believe the littlest of things can speak, you spoke Jesus to the man who stopped by, consider Revelation 19:10, prophecy points to Jesus, you prophesied in a way by pointing him out!
