Rejection Sensitive

I was so excited over a church happening!  As soon as the church service was over, I wanted to get back to applaud the other couple!  However, when I arrived the woman asked me where my mom was and took off.  Ouch. I felt rejected.

From the journal  .  .  .  .November 2002

Lord, you know it hurt my feelings!  I’m truly glad she is excited about my mom, and I love my mom to be honored but . . . what about me?  I think I am rejection sensitive!

Anyway, as I talked to You about it, and was kinda mad at myself for letting something so trivial offend me.  I felt like You were saying this is to help me be sensitive to others. I don’t like that feeling myself and I believe You would have me do what I can to relieve others.

And I Believe God Said:

Any time you feel rejected look around for who you can accept. Always be on the Look Out!

Lord, is that the only way You can get me to do that?

Awareness must occur to produce a pure action in love.  Trust Me.  I accept you and I’ve given you many others to accept.  Be grateful and stay alert!

I remember this cliché from when I was a kid: “Don’t judge others by yourself.” The idea was if you bad mouthed someone else, it could be you are guilty of the same offense.  Oh my.

Luke 6:42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

However, I think the truth of it is we often judge others by ourselves, at least as a starting place in a time of need.  When we want to help, we try to think of what could help us in their situation. If we have been in that situation, we may have been comforted by somebody else at some point or wished there was someone.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matt 5:4

When our church was younger, we had women’s retreats at least yearly. Those were fun days! However, there would come times when I’d get this oversensitive rejection thing going and my feelings would get hurt. I was concerned about it one year and the Lord showed me before the retreat that I was to be the one reaching out!! Huge blessing in meeting new people or reconnecting with others! It’s always better to give than to receive!

Acts 20:35 ” In everything I showed you that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

If this post seemed familiar it’s because it is.  I published the same one in 2019 but my records weren’t accurate.  The ending was longer this time and I’m hoping it’s worth the re-read! Always trusting Jesus to us it for His good!
