For those of us who believe in the Bible and who have surrendered to Jesus, we look to the Bible for direction, instruction, comfort, and how to love others. The Bible clearly tells us to share with others the things He has done for us. In order to do that sometimes we need to remember the early days in our walk with Him. This is a beneficial thing to do and very biblical!
PSALM 103:2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,And forget none of His benefits;
Psalm 116:12 What shall I render to the Lord For all His benefits toward me?
1 Cor. 10:31 Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
From the Journal . . . . November 2025
When I was walking this morning, I was thinking about all the wonderful things that the Lord has done for me personally. These things are what remind me of who I believe in and why. Then I thought about a line from an episode of The Chosen series by Dallas Jenkins. (Season 4 Episode 4 Intro) The character Peter declared, “I trust in the God who walks on water!” It was very personal to Peter because he experienced it firsthand and was convinced that Jesus was the Messiah.
Matt 14:25-31 And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. 26 When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” 28 Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
My thoughts led me to why I trust and believe in Jesus. The things that came to mind were the personal things that I know He had brought about!
I could say:
“I believe in the God who saved my marriage when I was convinced divorce was the best course.”
“I believe in the God who saved me from a runaway truck barreling down a cliff to crash right in front of me.”
“I believe in the God who gave me twin boys knowing how much I would enjoy them.”
And there were many, many more things that I know He did for me. I ended with, “I believe in the God who speaks to me personally when I read the Bible.”
And I believe God said:
As you openly proclaim these happenings you give Me glory.
Psalm 29:2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord
in the splendor of his holiness.
Ps 9:1 I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart;
I will tell of all Your wonders.
You also strengthen your own faith as you remember Me. You give encouragement to others as you speak of what you know about Me.
Psalm 9:11 Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion;
Declare among the peoples His deeds.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
And you can’t speak about your life without speaking about Me.
Wow Lord. That’s true. I can’t. Thank you!
This word was another evidence to me about the God I believe in. I’ve been challenged with how to relate to those who no longer believe the Bible. All I can do is talk about what God has done for me personally! They can come to their own conclusions.
Luke 8:39 “Return to your house and describe what great things God has done for you.” So he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.
Mark 5:20. And he went away and began to proclaim in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed.
The last thing that I had said about the God I believe in seems significant.
“I believe in the God who speaks to me personally when I read the Bible.”
He revealed Himself to me while I was reading the Bible and continues to do so. Many things that I am grateful for are things that happened before I surrendered my life to Jesus. By reading and studying the Bible I know that He was working in my life back then. The thoughts that come into my head while studying are led by the Holy Spirit of God! When I surrendered to God, His Holy Spirit came in and things changed! I was different. I was born again!

Hi Diane,
Thanks for reminding us the recount the good things God has done for us. I have found that reminding myself of who God is, what he has done for all humanity, and what he has done for me personally really increases my faith.
